The Literacy Skills for Secondary is a bespoke intervention for secondary school children who are not at age-related expectations in reading and writing. It will enable pupils to either catch up with their peers or equip them with the reading skills they will need for life depending on their starting level. The daily, one to one intervention can run for up to 20 weeks.

The Early Literacy Skills Programme (ELSP) is a wave 2 literacy intervention for year 1 and 2 children who are not at age-related expectations in reading, writing and phonics. It will enable pupils to catch up with their peers and reach age-expected levels within 20 weeks of daily, intensive, one-to-one intervention. The ELSP sees an average 8.7 months progress across all children receiving intervention as part of the training programme. Run by Louise Harding, Reading Recovery Teacher Leader

These meetings will support induction tutors/leads in fulfilling their statutory duties by guiding them through using ECT manager, conducting progress reviews and formal assessments. They will also provide an invaluable opportunity to share best practice and attendees will be able to create support networks. They will be led by the Appropriate Body Lead at BDSIP.

This course is one half day of training for experienced TAs that have had experience of guided reading within the classroom. The programme aims to close the attainment gap in reading for children that are up to 6 months below their reading age.
