I believe in the right for every child to receive a high-quality education. I have worked as an Early Years Adviser for many years and during this time, have always strived to provide bespoke EYFS support to practitioners, ensuring the best possible outcomes for young children. I’ve been working for BDSIP for the last three years and have welcomed the opportunity to be part of a professional organisation that values the professional development of employees as well as the importance of developing a support strategy when working with customers. During my career as an Early Years Adviser, I have gained vast experience and knowledge of EYFS observation and assessment and have been the Early Years profile moderation manager for two local authorities. I have also been an external moderator, working for the standards and teaching agency. My passion for every setting to have high quality teaching and learning has also been endorsed working as an ofsted inspector.
I have completed a 4-day Coaching course and have used my developed knowledge and skills from the training to support Early Years practitioners in achieving high quality outcomes, helping them to maximise their performance. I’ve completed a Master of Education in ‘School Improvement’ from the University of Cambridge and have been able to utilise my learning from the study to support and challenge not only my own thinking but also that of other practitioners in the different aspects of school improvement.
My role at BDSIP is very diverse and involves working with practitioners on a one-to-one basis as well as a team of EYFS practitioners. I deliver EYFS training to a wide audience including in-house training for whole school EYFS teams and central training. I am responsible for organising and delivery of the EYFS CPD programme, which include 7 curriculum areas, planning and observation, and assessment. I lead a termly EYFS coordinator meeting to update EYFS coordinators on any changes made to the EYFS statutory framework, published research, and new initiatives and training opportunities.
I promote the value of engaging parents/carers in their young child’s learning and actively engage EYFS leads to promote the value of early years through a range of Parent workshops. I also work with other partners within the local authority to support and deliver programmes, which encompass parental engagement, i.e. toothbrushing programme, Peep programme.
