Full Biography

I am the Primary Senior School Improvement Advisor with over thirty years’ experience of teaching and senior leadership in inner London schools. Throughout my career I have relished the challenges of working with diverse communities in Inner London schools. I am a passionate, highly motivated, and enthusiastic practitioner, committed to transforming children’s lives through education.

Prior to joining BDSIP, I was a head teacher in Tower Hamlets. I took the school to outstanding in 2016 and was highly commended by OFSTED for our approach to equalities and inclusion. The school has since retained the outstanding grade under the new framework. During my headship, I created strong professional partnerships with schools in the local authority and engaged in a range of collaborative projects to improve outcomes for pupils. I worked with the Tower Hamlets Education Partnership as a coach and mentor on the future head teachers programme as well as piloting a peer review programme. Through this work, I developed my skills in mentoring, coaching and supporting school improvement. I became an LLE in 2018 and worked as a SIP for the London East Teacher Training Alliance. Having had the experience of successfully growing new leaders, both in my own school and in others, inspired me to take up the role at BDSIP. The company’s vision and values very much aligned with my own and I looked forward to broadening my knowledge through working with a range of experts from different fields.

I have worked for BDSIP for three years and during that time, I have developed strong relationships with many schools through a range of roles. I am currently the school improvement partner for ten schools across the borough and support a team of associate SIPS. I work collaboratively with my schools, jointly identifying their needs and developing a targeted programme of support. This includes subject deep dives, OFSTED preparation and leadership development. I became the appropriate body lead for BDSIP during the time of the introduction of the new Early Career Framework. I supported schools and ECTs in navigating this new approach to induction.

In my role as moderation manager, I have trained and supported teams of KS1 and KS2 moderators and organised their work in schools during assessments. This has enabled me to get to know English and maths subject leaders across the borough and tap into their expertise for the benefit of all our schools. In addition, I lead the planning and delivery for the annual governors conference and the deputy heads conference.
