Full Biography

Richard was invited to become a DFE Consultant with a focus on challenging inner-city schools. He reviews international schools in Spain and Panama in preparation for their ISI inspections as part of his role as Director of Primary for Kings Group Academies. In this role he also advises schools in Portsmouth and Bracknell Forest. Richard is now a school improvement adviser in London and has recently acted as an interim headteacher in Southwark.

Richard is Chair of Governors in a Dagenham school and a member of the board of Directors of a Multi-Academy Trust. Most of his work and his real passion involves coaching and developing leadership styles in school leaders.

Richard has over 20 years’ experience as both a headteacher and executive headteacher in a number of schools in the Midlands. He converted his ‘Outstanding’ primary school to a stand-alone academy and then a Multi-Academy Trust.

During his time as a headteacher Richard was seconded for two years to HSBC Education Trust globally, before becoming the national Director of Primary at the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust. Throughout this period, Richard designed and delivered leadership programmes for NCSL and within organisations in the USA, China, Pakistan, South Africa, Australia and around Europe. He is an accredited Confucius Classroom provider.
