BDSIP’s Literacy Intervention Lead, Louise Harding, has been achieving significant success with her Literacy Skills for Secondary Programme.

This programme is designed as an intervention for secondary students who are not meeting age-related expectations in reading, writing, and phonics. The pilot phase at Riverside Secondary has demonstrated that students can make rapid progress in literacy through daily, intensive, one-on-one interventions tailored to each individual’s needs.

Louise’s work with participating schools has shown a lasting positive impact on students, receiving excellent feedback from both school colleagues and pupils.

This particular student started the programme at a reading level of 10, and 20 weeks later is reading at a level 30.

A big congratulations to our 2023/2024 cohort on the completion of their programme. They have worked incredibly hard over the past year and we wish them every success going forward.
