Full Biography

I am an accomplished Attendance Adviser, with a successful record of improving school attendance. I create and sustain effective partnerships and excellent working relationships with pupils, parent/carers, the wider community and external agencies, ensuring collaborative working to improve outcomes for pupils at school. I am a highly motivated, empathetic and driven practitioner committed to transforming the lives of children and young people.  I believe that it is important to set high standards for all pupils to be able to achieve their full potential.  I strongly believe that all children have a right to a full-time education, and I am fully aware of the challenges this could bring to many educational settings. Safeguarding children and an all-inclusive approach is at the heart of what I do.

BDSIP work to improve the lives of pupil’s, really motivated me to want to be part of a team of excellence whose educational philosophy is ‘a living commitment to creating an inclusive, empowering, and purposeful educational experience for all, where each learner is not only equipped with knowledge and skills but is also inspired to become a lifelong learner and a positive force in the world’.

Prior to joining BDSIP, I was successful in developing and implementing excellent systems to track and monitor attendance in an educational setting in Barking & Dagenham. Supporting and engaging families, particularly those hard to reach and from a very diverse community was a key strength of mine. I was successfully able to deliver parenting programmes that gave families the skills and insight they needed to improve the lives of their children. As Deputy Safeguarding Lead, I acted as a champion of the school’s safeguarding policy and procedures by supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

My role at BDSIP as an experienced attendance adviser is to work closely with your attendance leads to create a bespoke package of support for proactively managing and improving attendance across the whole school community. Driven by an unwavering commitment to an inclusive approach, to identify vulnerable pupils and implement the appropriate strategies to meet their individual needs. I am keen to take an active role in ensuring that attendance procedures are in place within settings, in line with national and local guidance and to support with legal sanctions regarding non-attendance at school where appropriate, within the DFE and local authority guidelines. I support school leaders to develop a clear school attendance policy which is readily understood by all staff, students and parents.  Supporting the development of robust systems proven to improve attendance and punctuality and to work in partnership with school leaders to build strong relationships with all families, particularly those hard to engage, with the aim of understanding barriers to attendance and identifying the best ways to address them. To provide individual casework and support for students with persistent absence or whose absence is a cause for concern.
