The Literacy Skills Programme for Secondary is an intervention for secondary students who are not at age related expectations in reading, writing and phonics. The pilot phase of the programme at Riverside Secondary has shown that students make accelerated progress in literacy through daily, intensive, one-to-one intervention that is tailored to the needs of the individual.
Course participants will receive high quality literacy training and ongoing access to bespoke support from Louise Harding, Literacy Intervention Lead and Reading Recovery Teacher Leader, while you work with the lowest attaining children, who have made very little progress in literacy skills, and transform them into enthusiastic, able and independent readers and writers. You will change the way people in your school think about literacy teaching and learning.
“Every school needs this programme. The power is in the training of the adult to deliver it, coupled with a passion for literacy.”

“I did lots of stuff before but nothing helped. Miss understands how I’m learning and [this programme] has helped me in lessons. I can spot words now. It makes me feel good.”
