Skills for Screen
On 23rd February Inspiring Futures and Film Barking and Dagenham are running Skills for Screen at UCL PEARL in Dagenham East. It is an interactive event with a carousel of industry organisations and professionals, there is capacity for 400 people at each event so schools can bring sizable groups.

Film, TV and Media Taster Day
1st March at BDC LBBD are running a film, TV and media skills and careers event for Primary Schools, this is the first one event being run as a pilot, therefore only 90 places are available. Primary Schools should email amelia.hart@lbbd.gov.uk to book their students.
Far From the Norm
Inspiring Futures is working with Far From the Norm, led by Artistic Director Botis Seva (Dagenham Born and attended Sydney Russell School) to bring a schools only performance at Barking Broadway Theatre of BLKDOG in March 2023. Please watch the Trailer
This is an amazing opportunity, to bring students to a performance of a seminal piece of work in the borough that is completely free.
22 March 2023, 3pm performance for dance and performing arts students followed by a post-show talk by Botis Seva. This is a chance for schools to inspire performing arts students to experience a performance without needing to leave the borough, limiting travel costs with no ticket costs.
23 March 2023, 3pm Inclusion performance for AP students and SEMHD students followed by a post-show talk by Botis Seva. This performance is designed to give at-risk and marginalised students an opportunity to experience a piece of work and presentation by Botis who, was excluded from school and found choreography through music production.
Running Time: 65 minutes (no interval)
Trigger Warning: BLKDOG features loud music, haze and abstract depictions of rape, violence and depression.
Age Guidance: 12+

Far From The Norm is an international touring company that strives to make honest, relevant and needed performance work that reflects our generation. They deconstruct street dance vocabulary, challenge perceptions of Hip Hop and create work that empowers ordinary people.
In2Science
Applications for the 2023 In2science summer programme are now open for Year 12 students!
The In2science summer programme is a free summer programme placing Year 12 (or equivalent) students from low-income and disadvantaged backgrounds with leading universities and companies across all STEM disciplines.
The programme consists of:
- An in-person STEM work experience placement
- Online skills, employability and careers workshops
- Public engagement competitions
- Student inductions and celebration events
Interested students can apply by filling in the Application Form by Friday 31 March 2023. Students must meet our Eligibility criteria in order to be shortlisted.
Programme activities will take place between Monday 24th July and Friday 25th August 2023. Students will be provided with a bursary to cover their travel and lunch expenses during their placement and any other in-person activities, and all in-person events will be held within commuting distance of where students live.

Barking, Havering, Redbridge NHS Trust Virtual Live Talks
Are you interested in a career within the NHS, but unsure which career pathway to take?
BHRUT are excited to be able to offer the opportunity to register and attend a virtual work experience webinar/live talk, with an NHS Healthcare Professional. This will provide you with the opportunity to join an information session to find out more about a particular profession and ask any questions you have at the end of the session.
