The Level 3 OCN London Dyslexia and Dyscalculia qualification is designed for educators, support staff, and other professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of dyslexia and dyscalculia. The course provides practical strategies for identifying and supporting individuals with these specific learning difficulties. We hope that delegates will carry onto further specialist training.
Description
The tuition costs for this course are included as part of our CPD package for subscribing schools. The accreditation fee is an additional £250, which is paid directly to OCN. If you wish to gain the accreditation, please select this option in the checkout. You can complete this course without gaining the accreditation.
Timetable
Four sessions take place on Fridays over Zoom, 10am - 4pm
- Day 1 7th February - What is dyslexia /dyscalculia and how do we identify. What is maths anxiety. Impact of poor executive functioning skills.
- Day 2 28th February - Supporting learners with literacy – reading and spelling
- Day 3 21st March - Supporting learners with writing. Supporting learners with numeracy part 1
- Day 4 28th March - Supporting children with numeracy part 2. Putting together a programme of intervention.
What are the aims of the course?
- To give delegates a basic understanding of dyslexia and dyscalculia and how to identify it
- To give delegates an introduction to some basic rules and conventions of the English language and the how impaired language skills can impact on maths difficulties.
- To equip delegates to support teachers and dyslexic/dyscalculic learners in the development of organisation and other skills.
- To equip delegates to support teachers and dyslexic learners in literacy and numeracy development.

- Understanding what dyslexia and dyscalculia is and how we identify and assess for both SpLD’s
- Introduction to how language works – reading, spelling and writing skills
- Helping with literacy and numeracy skills

- A minimum of six registrations is required to run this course. If the minimum is below this one week prior to the course date, the course will be cancelled and refunds will be issued.
- No refund will be received for places cancelled within 5 working days of the session.
- Schools will receive a 50% refund for places cancelled within 10 working days of the session.
