This course is an opportunity for year 6 teachers to moderate their children’s writing evidence using the teacher assessment frameworks at the end of KS2. It will support preparation for moderation and there will be an opportunity to unpick examples of standardised writing that are used to train moderators.

Why should I attend?

This session will be led by Maggie McGuigan, a highly experienced English consultant and moderation manager. Her expertise will help you develop your understanding of how to use the assessment framework to assess writing, particularly when it comes to the greater depth standard.

 

What will this course cover?

This course is particularly beneficial for teachers new to year 6 or schools expecting moderation.

  • To familiarise yourself with the expectations in writing at the end of year 6
  • To understand the range of evidence needed for a child to meet the KS2 standards writing
  • To have an opportunity to moderate with other schools and understand the moderation process
