Governors’ Conference

Home > Governors’ Conference

This year we are focusing on Personal Development in Schools. We know that personal development plays an important role in helping students build a strong and positive foundation for the future. We will consider what we understand by personal development and the role of governors in ensuring that schools evolve and grow to meet the needs of the students in a rapidly changing world.

Description

Cost

  • Schools based in LBBD - No charge
  • School based outside of LBBD - £80.00

Why should I attend?

We recognise that the expectations for governors in terms of ensuring there is robust accountability has increased over the last few years. This conference is an opportunity to support governors in developing their knowledge of current educational developments and deepen their understanding of their role in relation to personal development. It is also an excellent opportunity to network with other governors from our schools across Barking and Dagenham.

What will the course cover?

Our keynote speaker will focus on the following:

  • Current priorities and conflicts within education.
  • The rapidly changing nature of the world and how this is likely to impact upon education and our children in the future.
  • How we view personal development currently and how we will need to view it over the next few years.
  • Strategies for ensuring that personal development remains relevant to our children's life experiences.
  • The role governance in ensuring that schools evolve and grow to meet the future needs of the children who pass through our education system.

We will have workshops on:

  • Personal development and the role of artificial intelligence within education over the next 5 years.
  • Personal Development at William Ford Primary School
  • Preparing for an OFSTED inspection
  • The Golden Thread - developing teachers through the National Professional Qualifications
