Tanya is an Attendance Adviser at BDSIP, playing a vital role in supporting whole-school attendance strategies at both leadership and operational levels. She works closely with school attendance leads, senior staff and wider agencies to develop and implement effective approaches that drive positive change in attendance culture and practice.
A key part of Tanya’s work is engaging with families of children facing attendance challenges. She builds trusting relationships to understand and address the barriers preventing regular school attendance, supporting families with practical solutions and guidance. Tanya’s holistic approach recognises that improving attendance requires partnership between schools, families, and the wider community.
With 14 years’ experience working in schools across Barking and Dagenham, Tanya brings deep knowledge of the local context and the diverse needs of children, including those with SEMH and SEND. She is currently pursuing an Honours degree in Psychology, which enriches her understanding of the complex factors affecting attendance and wellbeing.
Tanya’s commitment to giving every child the best chance to succeed aligns closely with BDSIP’s mission. She is proud to be part of an organisation that values collaboration and strives to create opportunities for children to flourish through improved attendance and engagement.
