Full Biography

Susan Hodgson brings warmth, deep expertise and a strong belief in the power of early education to her role as Early Years Advisory Teacher. With a long-standing commitment to supporting practitioners and improving outcomes for young children, Susan has been part of BDSIP since the service launched in 2020, working side by side with schools to build confident, knowledgeable teams and inclusive, high-quality EYFS environments.

Her career spans roles as a local authority adviser, moderation manager, and external moderator for the Standards and Testing Agency. She has also trained as an Ofsted inspector and coach, equipping her with a breadth of skills to support, challenge and champion school improvement in the early years.

At BDSIP, Susan leads the Early Years CPD programme and works closely with practitioners through tailored school support, in-house and central training, and strategic guidance for EYFS leads. Her work is rooted in collaboration and a strong sense of purpose: helping every child to thrive by empowering the adults who work with them.

Whether leading training, advising on assessment, or engaging families through parent workshops, Susan models BDSIP’s values of partnership, curiosity and inclusion. She draws on research, including her own postgraduate study at the University of Cambridge, and frontline experience to shape thoughtful, practical approaches that make a lasting difference.
