James Dawson is a highly experienced former Headteacher and school leader with over 20 years in primary education. Now working as a Trust-Wide Leader at Learning in Harmony Trust, James focuses on leadership development and coaching, supporting senior leaders to grow their practice through Action Learning Sets and tailored development work.
His career has spanned a variety of roles and settings across Newham, including playing a key role in the founding of a Free School and leading a vibrant three-form entry primary school for nine years. He brings rich experience in curriculum development, English, assessment, and inclusion, all underpinned by a deep belief in the power of collaboration.
As a qualified coach and Discovery Insights Practitioner, James is passionate about developing people at all levels of an organisation. He specialises in helping individuals and teams build strong, effective relationships and shared purpose, essential ingredients for lasting improvement.
Through his work with BDSIP, James brings both strategic insight and a deep understanding of the everyday realities of school leadership. He is proud to contribute to BDSIP’s mission to ensure every child receives the best possible education, supporting schools to build strong leadership, foster inclusive cultures, and create the conditions where staff and pupils can truly thrive.
