Jackie Day brings decades of dedicated service to school governance, having supported Barking and Dagenham’s schools since 1986 and led the Governor Services team since 2007. With a deep understanding of the local education landscape and a strong foundation in governance practice, including completion of the National Clerks’ Development Programme, Jackie is a trusted adviser to governing boards across the borough.
As Governor Services Manager and Company Secretary at BDSIP, Jackie plays a pivotal role in guiding schools through constitutional, procedural and regulatory matters, while building long-standing relationships with governors. Her background in science education has contributed to her meticulous and organised approach, enabling her to manage a complex service with clarity and care.
Jackie’s commitment goes beyond compliance; she understands that effective governance is fundamental to creating strong, inclusive schools where all children can thrive. She has supported schools through key changes such as amalgamations and academisation, always placing children’s interests at the heart of her work.
