David Canning is an Associate SEND and Inclusion Adviser for BDSIP, dedicated to advancing equitable education and championing provision for children and young people with SEND, particularly those who are deaf. With a career spanning teaching, senior local authority leadership, academia, and advisory roles, David brings extensive expertise in strategy, leadership, and evidence-informed practice. He works collaboratively with schools, leaders, and communities to drive system-wide improvement, strengthen SEND provision, and create inclusive environments where every learner can succeed. Passionate about ensuring that all children—especially those whose voices are too often unheard—are supported to reach their potential, David is committed to fostering sustainable, high-impact change across education systems.
