Why should I attend?

This course offers an invaluable opportunity to gain insights from highly experienced primary maths consultant Peter Warwick. Peter has delivered numerous impactful training sessions for BDSIP, which are always practical, thought-provoking, and inspiring.

What will this course cover?

Did you know that it is estimated that at least 5% of your pupils have dyscalculia and 25% of your pupils have maths difficulties? Sadly, very few of their teachers and teaching assistants would know what dyscalculia is;  know how to support their pupils so they are actively participating in maths lessons; and are unlikely to have ever received any training.

This course will explain what dyscalculia is; looking at the indicators that teachers, SENCOs & teaching staff should be aware of.

It will also explore general maths difficulties and anxieties that many of your pupils (and adults) have to cope with every day.

More importantly it will give practical strategies and activities on how to support and address dyscalculia & maths difficulties.

Advice on both informal diagnostic assessments, intervention programmes, and who and how an official diagnosis will be included.
