As an Associate Counsellor, I share BDSIP’s commitment to championing whole school well-being in which every child and young person has the right to thrive. I believe positive adult relationships that offer empathetic support and connection from the earliest beginnings of a student’s school journey, can foster a sense of belonging and build an improved and meaningful relationship with education.
As a qualified Integrative Counsellor, I offer a safe and empowering space, that supports children and young people to explore and express difficult life experiences, understand and process challenging emotions and nurture self-belief.
My experience includes supporting children, young people and vulnerable adults in SEND and mainstream settings, in both education and social care, which informs my knowledge of inclusion and experiences of difference. My specialist area of knowledge is working with experiences of grief and loss, supported by my work in a hospice and for a charity supporting family experiences of child bereavement. I recognise the impact of ambiguous losses associated with other significant life events, particularly when young lives are subject to sudden change or transition.
My work as a Community Arts Facilitator and Early Years Practitioner, supports my enthusiasm for using creative expression and play in the therapeutic relationship. I am passionate about using creativity to support self-expression and communication, and enable BDSIP Counselling experiences to be fully accessible and inclusive.
