The Professional Standards for Teaching Assistants were developed in 2016 and although they are not statutory, they offer useful guidance on the role of the teaching assistant.
This document is designed to support teaching assistants to identify their strengths and training needs. It is a helpful tool in supporting performance management or appraisal as teaching assistants can use it to compile evidence of where they meet the standards and where additional support may be needed to help them deliver exceptional outcomes for learners with additional needs.
