Full Biography

Melanie has been the Associate Counselling Service Supervisor at BDSIP since September 2022. In this role, she provides regular, reflective supervision for all BDSIP Associate Counsellors, ensuring high standards of care and adherence to BACP guidelines.

With a MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy and advanced qualifications in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychotherapy and Counselling Supervision, Melanie brings a wealth of knowledge to her supervisory practice. As an integrative practitioner, she supports counsellors from a range of modalities, working both individually and in groups. Melanie continues to offer direct counselling support, primarily with children and young people.

Before pursuing counselling, Melanie trained and worked as a teacher for ten years, which deepened her understanding of educational environments and young people’s needs. She also serves as Clinical Lead in a large secondary school, alongside her supervisory responsibilities. Melanie delivers training and consultation to schools, charities, and local authorities, helping them develop and enhance their therapeutic services.

Melanie’s commitment to nurturing professional growth and wellbeing in counsellors aligns closely with BDSIP’s mission to provide high-quality, compassionate support to children and young people. She is proud to contribute to a collaborative team that values reflective practice and believes that strong emotional support is vital for every learner’s success.
