Rebecca is a senior Inclusion Adviser with over 30 years’ experience championing children and young people with autism and complex needs. Since joining BDSIP in 2019, she has been instrumental in improving inclusive provision across Barking and Dagenham, establishing the borough’s AET Hub, driving improvement across all ASD ARPs, and leading strategies to support primary schools in responding to a significant rise in learners with complex needs.
Rebecca brings extensive expertise from across mainstream, special schools and resource provisions, with a deep commitment to building environments where every child is understood and supported. A trained SCERTS practitioner, she embeds evidence-informed approaches into practice, supporting staff to respond meaningfully to challenges around communication, emotional regulation, and engagement.
Her impact extends beyond the borough: Rebecca has contributed to national guidance commissioned by the Department for Education on supporting autistic learners in relation to Prevent, and is widely recognised for her ability to forge strong professional networks. Thanks to her leadership, BDSIP is able to draw on some of the best SEND and Inclusion practitioners across the UK and beyond to strengthen local practice.
Rebecca’s work is rooted in BDSIP’s mission to create inclusive, equitable learning for all. She believes in the power of collaboration, practical tools and high expectations to transform outcomes, and in the importance of keeping the individual learner at the heart of every decision.
