Rebecca is an Associate Counsellor with BDSIP, working with secondary school age children in Barking, and is a member of the BACP. She has a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, and as well as working with adults, she has substantial experience of working with children in both primary and secondary schools, and is confident, and enjoys, working in both settings. She is an integrative relational counsellor, and whilst her main approach is humanistic, being client led, she also works psycho-dynamically when appropriate. As well as PCT and psychodynamic therapy, she has studied Gestalt, TA, CBT, Solution Focused and Single-Session Therapy. She continues to add to her counselling skills with ongoing CPD.
Rebecca has worked with clients aged 5-85, who’ve presented with a range of issues: clients who are non-verbal, who are neuro divergent, who’ve experienced bereavement, suffer from anxiety, anger, who’ve suffered trauma, been neglected, subjected to violence, who have relationship or friendship issues, work stress, exam stress, etc. She prides herself in providing a calm, warm, non-judgemental space where her clients can find ways to safely express their thoughts and feelings and explore them.
As well as one-to-one sessions, Rebecca has also run and co-run group work. These either take the form of one-off group sessions with up to 4 clients, or group sessions with up to 8 clients in which, over the course of 4 sessions, they explore issues including resilience, confidence and anxiety.
Rebecca is also a bereavement volunteer with Cruse. She believes strongly that mental health support should be available to all and that by providing counselling to CYP in our schools and universities, we will hopefully better equip them to cope with the challenges that life may throw at them.
