Full Biography

Elena is originally from Cyprus, and has been living in London since 1998. She offers therapy in both English and Greek – which is her first language. Four years ago, she trained as a humanistic counsellor and has since worked and volunteered in charities such as Mind (within an NHS setting), Cruse Bereavement Care and Woman’s Trust charity, focusing on victims of domestic abuse.

Her main approach is person-centred, focusing on clients by helping them to explore their own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour and worldview so that they can become more self-aware and find positive ways of living their lives by becoming independent and more confident.

Elena is currently self-employed and have had my own private practice since February 2020. I have experience of offering short-term and long-term therapy to clients from diverse backgrounds, race, class, gender, and sexual orientation; and of working with individuals with complex issues.

Elena holds hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework and I am deeply committed to my on-going professional and personal development. Additionally, she has extensive experience of working with a wide range of clients of all ages and with various issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and self-confidence, relationship issues and difficulties, trauma, loss & grief, work-related issues, domestic abuse and gender and sexuality issues.

Elena has been working with BDSIP Ltd within an educational setting since September 2020, offering counselling to young children. In working with the children she is always mindful of all aspects of safeguarding; and have been using art therapy and play therapy with the younger children in particular, helping them to express their feelings and explore their circumstances in a safe and confidential space.
