David Botterill is an inclusion Officer working for BDSIP with over 25 years’ experience in the fields of attendance, admissions, SEN and exclusions and he works with 35 schools across the Local Authority.
His primary role is finding alternatives to exclusion, advising on best inclusion practice, mediation between schools, parents, pupils and providers and monitoring and advising and assisting vulnerable groups and individuals. A new and emerging interest is developing peer to peer support between schools relating to inclusion issues arising from gang activity and child exploitation.
David lead teams of attendance officers both in Greenwich and Barking and Dagenham and acted as court officer in both settings preparing and presenting large numbers of prosecutions and managing court orders. Additionally, David twice recruited and lead special project teams both in attendance and missing pupils/pupil mobility for which he received an award.
David is a Governor at two primary schools and a secondary school in Dagenham.
