On October 17, BDSIP held a full day course for Key Stage 1 teachers whose children are working on securing early reading skills.
The well-attended course was held at the dedicated teacher training facility at Warren Primary School. This pedagogical building block is perhaps the most important investment a school makes in every child’s life. Not only does it lay the foundation for a child’s literacy skills and eloquence, its nurtures empathy and an openness to new ideas.
At this event, teachers looked at practical examples of how to teach Talk for Writing, held a lively discussion around the application of Talk for Writing in schools and took a deep look at the impact of Talk for Writing.
As the accompanying photograph from the day shows, words and pictorial images often go hand in hand when inspiring children in the classroom.
