In this two hour in-person session we will be discussing 1) curriculum review and booklets for student learning 2) assessment in Science at key stage 3 3) courses and approaches for low attainers at key stage 4 Our speaker on key stage 3 assessment is Umara Qureshi, Science teacher and Deputy Headteacher at Chiltern Academy in Luton. We will also be consulting you on themes for meetings for next academic year and CPD opportunities that we could include within the BDSIP programme.

Description

Why should I attend?

  • As Heads of Science in secondary schools within the borough, we can help each other to find solutions to common issues in a spirit of openness and professional generosity.
  • Our experience can be enriched by ideas and examples from select speakers from outside the borough

 

What will the course cover?

In this two hour in-person session we will be discussing

1) curriculum review and booklets for student learning - two schools describe their initiatives to raise standards through the use of common booklets in all key stages including post-16

2) assessment in Science at key stage 3 – when its so hard to achieve consistent judgements

3) courses and approaches for low attainers at key stage 4 – courses and adapting teaching

 

Our speaker on key stage 3 assessment is Umara Qureshi, Science teacher and Deputy Headteacher at Chiltern Academy in Luton.

We will also be consulting you on themes for meetings for next academic year and CPD opportunities that we could include within the BDSIP programme.
