Home > BDSIP Assistant and Deputy Heads Network Meeting

This will be the inaugural half-termly meeting of Assistant and Deputy Headteachers in Barking and Dagenham.

In this 90-minute online session we will be:

1) anticipating exam arrangements for this summer ahead of the 7th February Ofqual announcement

2) looking at a planned approach to career development for Assistant and Deputy Heads

3) ten questions that a Raising Standards Leader should be asking now

Why should I attend?

  • As employees in schools, we can solve 80% of the challenges that we face – for the remaining 20% we are reliant on each other for ideas and inspiration.
  • I will be using my experience as a Chair of Governors, facilitator, former Headteacher and consultant to present some up-to-the-minute content in an engaging manner
  • We will be drawing on your experiences during the course of this interactive session so please prepare thoughts on:
    • How you are preparing for examination arrangements in summer 2022
    • The key ways you ensure on accurate predictions, insightful mock exam analysis and effective interventions.
    • How you would like to gain ideas and support for career progression.

What will the course cover?

  • In this inaugural meeting we will receive practical advice on two of the main issues facing senior leaders looking to get great exam results in the summer: a) how to anticipate mitigations that OfQUAL will be announcing in two weeks’ time b) practical advice on accurate predictions, effective intervention, Year 11 pastoral support and harnessing parents
  • We will also be setting out a model for the career development of both Assistant Heads and Deputies, looking at strategic preparation and opportunities outside of school for professional development.
  • A consultation on the priority issues that participants would like to tackle in forthcoming meetings, visits and regular Zoom calls.
