Pupil premium – is it making a difference?

Pupil Premium funding is directed at removing the gap between the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and those who do not come from disadvantaged backgrounds. In this session we will explore pupil premium funding and how schools should be utilising it. We will focus on the statutory requirements on schools, to publish a pupil premium strategy and ensure that spending decisions are informed by evidence. We will pose questions that governors can ask to broaden their awareness of pupil premium in their school and the impact spending is having on closing gaps, many of which have been worsened by the pandemic.
