Focus on SEND – what we need to know and how can we find out? Role of visits, QA external reports, etc.
Governance should be focused, in all schools, on ensuring the best outcomes for all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This session will provide governors with on overview of SEND, the statutory backdrop to expectations on schools, and how in practical terms, governors should ensure that provision in their school is meeting the needs of all pupils. We will offer best practice tips for ensuring governor visits gather evidence of SEND provision and suggest questions governors should ask to deepen their knowledge of their school’s provision and its impact.
