An accredited, comprehensive TA Training Programme, delivered with full consideration to the TA Standards (2016), to fully equip Teaching Assistants with the knowledge, understanding and practical strategies to support wide range of SEND. TAs will complete an Inclusion Portfolio as evidence of their practice against the standards. This will be assessed at the end of the course as part of the accreditation process.


Why should I attend?

  • I want to develop practical strategies to support a diverse range of SEND learners.


What will the course cover?

Over 11 sessions, the course will cover the requirements of the Teaching Assistant Standards (2016).  Participants will complete an Inclusion Portfolio to record evidence of practice against the Standards. They are expected to maintain at least 95% attendance to complete the course.


Taught sessions will cover the following areas of SEND:

  • Session 1 - Monday November 8th – The Role of the TA
  • Session 2 - Monday November 8th – Relationships and Behaviour
  • Session 3 - Monday November 22nd– SEMH, ACEs and Trauma
  • Session 4 - Monday November 22nd – Cognition and Learning
  • Session 5 - Monday December 6th – Speech, Language and Communication Needs
  • Session 6 - Monday January 17th - Neurodiversity
  • Session 7 - Monday February 7th – Complex Needs
  • Session 8 - Monday March 7th – Physical and Sensory
  • Session 9 - Monday May 16th – Enabling Environments
  • Session 10 - Monday June 6th – Families and the Wider Community
  • Session 11 - Monday July 4th – Final Portfolio Review
