SENCO Network: SEND Recovery and Effective SENCO Deployment

Home > SENCO Network: SEND Recovery and Effective SENCO Deployment

The SENCO Networks offer an opportunity to share best practice across the borough. This session will include an introduction to the work of Whole School SEND, led by our regional leads, Michelle Unstead and Heba Al-Jayoosi and an exploration of the role of the SENCO as a strategic leader for SEND Recovery.

Description

Why should I attend?

I want to:

  • ensure that the strategic leadership of SEND in my setting is powerful and progressive to meet the demands of the SEND Recovery Plan

  • be empowered to confidently influence and support my school community in changing pupils’ lives for the better.

What will the course cover?

The webinar will offer an introduction to the ‘Effective SENCO Deployment’ guide written by currently practising, highly-experienced primary and secondary SENCOs and a parent of a young person with SEND.  It will cover the five key strands of the guidance:

  • Strand 1: The SENCO on the Leadership Team

  • Strand 2: The Team around the SENCO

  • Strand 3: Effective Co-Production

  • Strand 4: Time to Fulfil the Role

  • Strand 5: Meaningful Performance Management

A copy of the guide is freely available at www.sendgateway.org.uk.  It is available as a pdf or an adaptable Word document.

All schools are encouraged to join the Community of Practice for WSS which brings together over 4000 schools, practitioners, parents and third sector organisations, committed to improving outcomes for learners with SEND. It is hosted by nasen and draws together work funded by the Department for Education and other investors.
