Governors’ conference season 2020: Session 7 – Promoting anti-racism in schools

Home > Governors’ conference season 2020: Session 7 – Promoting anti-racism in schools

For this term we have spread out a range of sessions which would normally have been part of the annual conference. The training will be accessible to all and may necessitate access to a computer or at least some online facility. Training will be no more than 60 minutes duration and held on Zoom for this term. All governors registering will be sent a link to join the Zoom session. There will be opportunities to discuss and ask questions.

Promoting anti-racism in schools – the governance of preparing all pupils for life in modern Britain.

How do we as governors ensure that what our schools are doing demonstrates to all pupils that black lives matter?

The session will cover topics such as:

  • Unconscious bias and decision making
  • Promoting a culture of anti-racism.
  • How do we think about the curriculum?
  • Identifies any endemic prejudice

Session leader: Steve Barker, Lead Governor and Consultant – Strictly Education 4S
