This training will provide practitioners with an opportunity to explore the pedagogy, principles and practices which underpin early reading as children move from Reception into Year 1


Why should I attend? 

So that we can explore what young readers need to become confident readers, including the activities and planning needed to teach and support children as they move from Reception into year 1. 


What will the course cover? 


Participants will:  

  • Considering children’s needs post pandemic as they move from R to Y1 

  • Explore the pedagogy surrounding Early Reading.  

  • Understand the importance of developing prerequisite skills for early writers to become confident writers. 

  • Examine assessment of children’s reading including Benchmarking. 

  • Reflect on own teaching methods and classroom procedures 

  • Consider quality first teaching methods 

  • Receive practical teaching advice  

  • Explore resources and books 

  • Develop practitioners' subject knowledge of the development of writing
