ASD: How to embed strategies into your T&L

Home > ASD: How to embed strategies into your T&L

This course provides staff with an understanding of what Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social Communication Difficulties are, as well as providing practical strategies to support pupils with ASD and social communication difficulties within the classroom setting. This webinar will be led by Giulia Bruno, Clinical Supervisor for ASD and Roz Tomes, Clinical Lead for Barking and Dagenham, Words First Ltd Speech and Language Therapy service.

Why should I attend?

At least one in 100 children in the UK has an ASD – this number does not include children who meet the diagnostic criteria but have not yet been diagnosed.

ASD is a lifelong condition but the right support at the right time can have tremendous positive impact on people’s resilience and mental wellbeing. This should be of highest priority seeing that at least one in three autistic adults are experiencing severe mental health difficulties due to a lack of support.

It is therefore imperative that all members of staff supporting pupils with ASD and related Social Communication Difficulties should have an understanding of Autism and feel confident in supporting these pupils to support their learning and mental wellbeing.

What will it cover?

This Webinar aims to investigate:

  • What is Autism/ ASD?
  • What is Social Communication?
  • How to support students with ASD and Social Communication Difficulties at your school.

Who is it for?

Any adult working within schools who is involved in the direct care and support of pupils with ASD or Social Communication Difficulties. However, it may be particularly useful for:

  • Teachers
