Quality First Teaching for SEND: An introductory session with Q&A

Home > Quality First Teaching for SEND: An introductory session with Q&A

Quality First Teaching is vital for the inclusion of all learners with additional needs, including SEND, and the adaptations we make in our planning and classrooms can ensure some children with difficulties do not 'acquire' SEND as a result of their difficulties with curriculum access.

Description

Why should I attend?

The session will explore how class teachers and teaching assistants should approach planning for high quality first teaching to promote inclusion and ensure all students are able to engage in learning.

Delegates will have the opportunity to ask questions about planning for quality first teaching.

What will it cover?

The course will cover:

  • the responsibilities of the class teacher as per the Code of Practice for SEND.
  • what we mean by quality first teaching
  • ‘Every day, all the time’: universal strategies that will promote inclusion for all students.
  • planning for students with more complex needs – what to put in your toolbox.
  • the graduated response to planning for high quality first teaching for inclusion.

Who should attend?

Class teachers and teaching assistants but this will be particularly useful for colleagues who are new in post.
