Course Description:
This one-day course will equip you to implement the Barking and Dagenham New Religious Education Agreed Syllabus, which a legal requirement for all schools to teach RE from September 2020. You will leave with a better understanding of the new curriculum for RE and able to put it into place in your schools setting with a range of exciting and practical teaching strategies. You will leave with a sound understanding of how to teach the skills of RE and develop your own ‘professional subject knowledge’ to be able to lead others.
Participants will:
- Ensure a long-term curriculum map is in place to cover the legal requirements for Religious Education (RE) in EYFS:
- Have a clear sense of pupil progress in RE across EYFS and strategies to assess
- Be able to articulate curriculum and assessment in terms of ‘Intent’ and ‘Impact’
- Gain confidence about how to quality teach RE in the EYFS (‘Implementation’) to ensure your school is teaching high quality knowledge and skills
- Grow in confidence in leading and managing RE across your school context.
Course Leader: Claire Clinton: Adviser RE & Philosophy. BDSIP
Claire has a high level of expertise in primary RE and years of experience in leading training with teachers in school. She leads a team of primary SLE’s and teachers developing materials and other guidance available to schools nationally on RE. Teachers always leave her courses feeling more knowledgeable and inspired to transform their own practice in school.
