ASD Awareness: The morning session will help to develop your understanding of ASD and build your confidence in working with young people with ASD. ASD Interventions: In the afternoon session you will have the opportunity to develop your understanding of how the theory from the morning session is put into practice.



Why should I attend?

ASD Awareness (am):

  • To improve understanding of the underlying difficulties faced by children and young people with ASD
  • To develop an appropriate response by recognising strengths and building upon these


ASD Interventions (pm):

  • To understand how to manage learners’ task engagement, attention and focus and ensure they remain available for learning
  • To understand the importance of visual supports that are developmentally appropriate


What will it cover?

ASD Awareness (am):

  • Beyond the triad of impairments
  • Understanding the psychological theories underlying learners with ASD
  • Understanding sensory differences and how these impact on ASC learners
  • How to respond to complex learning needs of ASC learners


ASD Interventions (pm):

  • Modifying the environment – giving structure and understanding sensory properties
  • Encouraging and responding to bids for communication
  • Understanding and responding to emotional needs of individuals

This is a full-day course.

  • CPD Package subscribers: There will be no charge for this course for schools that have purchased the CPD Package.
  • Pay as you go BDSIP Members: For schools that have not bought the CPD Package, there will be a charge of £200 per delegate for BDSIP members.
  • Pay as you go non-members: There will be a charge of £250 per delegate for schools that do not currently have BDSIP membership.
